Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best UK airport for Romania?+
London Luton is the most convenient for most UK travellers — Wizz Air operates the most frequent and cheapest routes to Bucharest, Cluj and Sibiu. Stansted and Gatwick also have good connections.
Can I fly into one airport and home from another?+
Yes — we actively recommend open jaw routing for tours of 9+ nights. Fly into Bucharest and home from Cluj, or vice versa. We arrange all in-country transfers between airports at no extra charge.
How far is Bucharest airport from the city and tour start points?+
Henri Coanda (OTP) is 16km from central Bucharest (30–45 minutes). From the airport, most Carpathian tour start points are 1.5–2.5 hours by road. We drive you directly — no need to go into Bucharest unless your tour starts there.
Are there direct flights from outside London?+
Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh have connections to Bucharest via one stop (usually Vienna, Budapest or Wizz hubs). Journey time 4.5–5.5 hours. We advise on the best routing for your departure city.
Do I need a visa for Romania?+
No. UK, EU, US, Canadian and Australian passport holders do not need a visa for Romania for stays up to 90 days. Romania joined the Schengen Area in 2024 for air and sea travel.
